Noted author, Dr. Scott Walker, discovered the story of the
Civil War's 57th Georgia Regiment quite by accident while
researching another book. Discovering that some of his
ancestors, the Braswell brothers, and most specifically,
teenaged Robert Braswell, were Confederate soldiers, Dr.
Walker's research into the history of his own family led him to
write this book. Over the next 16 years, Dr. Walker uncovered
candid and graphic accounts from members in the infantry of
the "57th Georgia" describing their battles, struggles,
conflicting emotions, commitment to their cause, and their
tragic losses contained in their letters, diaries, and personal
papers. The result is a remarkably well-researched, poignant,
visual and highly compelling book which follows the 57th
Georgia during the entire Civil War. Dr. Walker will bring the
people, events and places to life as he personally guides this
